Workshops
Fighting Monkey: Zero Forms & Movement Intelligence
This workshop offers a playful entry into Fighting Monkey Practice through Zero Forms — an approach to movement that lets go of ideal shapes, techniques, and right answers.
Participants explore simple, open-ended movement situations focused on balance and imbalance, rhythm and timing, orientation, connection, and transition. Instead of copying forms, movement emerges from responding to what is happening to gravity, space, and other bodies.
The emphasis is on movement intelligence: sensing, deciding, and adapting in real time. Tasks evolve continuously, encouraging curiosity, awareness, and responsiveness rather than effort or performance.
Play is the method. Games and improvisation create a low-pressure environment where mistakes become information and exploration replaces self-judgment. Each participant is invited to discover strategies that fit their own body and experience.
Open to all movers. No prior experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
Fighting Monkey: Play, Communication & Human Interaction
This workshop explores movement as communication, a core aspect of Fighting Monkey Practice. Instead of training alone, participants engage in playful partner and group situations where movement becomes a living dialogue.
Through games and improvisation, we explore leading and following, cooperation and resistance, clarity and confusion. Roles shift constantly, inviting participants to listen, respond, and adapt rather than plan or control.
Playfulness is essential. Physical interaction reveals how we relate — how we push, yield, hesitate, insist, or support. These patterns often mirror how we communicate beyond movement.
Diversity is welcomed. Different bodies, rhythms, and backgrounds enrich the experience and invite creative responses rather than uniform solutions.
Open to anyone curious about connection, interaction, and embodied communication.
Fighting Monkey: Uncertainty, Adaptation & the Return Journey
This workshop invites participants to explore uncertainty as a training ground rather than a problem. Using principles from Fighting Monkey Practice, we work with changing rules, instability, and incomplete information.
Movement situations challenge habits and expectations, encouraging participants to notice how they respond when things don’t go as planned. Do you rush, freeze, control, withdraw — or adapt and play?
At the heart of the workshop is the idea of the Return Journey: stepping away from fixed ideas of mastery and returning to fundamental human capacities — sensing, improvising, adapting, and playing.
The aim is not to eliminate uncertainty, but to develop trust in responsiveness. To move with what is happening rather than against it.
Open to all curious humans. Expect play, challenge, and surprise.
